Early screenings of the new Lion King have terrified young audiences. What was expected to be an updated children’s classic, has reportedly turned into a realistic violent affair.
“There was so much blood and killing,” cries mother Kathy Conservative. “It was like they were showing a real-life African jungle. I can’t believe I took my daughter to see it.”
Reports are stating that the film depicts scenes such as Simba eating zebras, crocodiles drowning buffalos and even hyenas engaging in intercourse.
Surprisingly, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) have rated the movie PG-13 and many are questioning whether that rating is appropriate given its violent content. Some fans have suggested that the MPAA originally gave the film a more restricted rating but were influenced by Disney to lower it.
“That is completely not true,” says millionaire chairman of the MPAA Bob Saget. “We do not and have not ever accepted bribes in return for ratings that will benefit the production company by letting more people see it.”
Moments later Mr. Saget departed on a private jet plane to get to the Tribeca film festival in New York.
Disney has refused to comment on why the changes were made but not all were opposed to the radical adjustments.
Reddit users on the subreddit r/natureismetal have actually welcomed the realistic changes. One user wrote “Well what did you expect? Welcome to the real f**king world – it’s survival of the fittest. If you can’t deal with it, leave”.
The Lion King is out 17th July.
