Move over Woody, there’s a new sheriff in town, or rather, a new spork. But for transgender people, the change isn’t fooling anyone.
“Please. Toy Story now has a character that’s not a spoon or fork but is actually both?” says transgender spokeswoman Caitlyn Jenner. “It’s the most obvious pandering towards the transgender community since Hilary Clinton said she always carried around hot sauce on a radio show to pander to an African-American audience”.
However, Pixar is claiming that the symbolic significance between the character “sporky” and those that identify as transgender is purely coincidental.
“Are you f**king joking? Of course, it has nothing to do with that,” says Pixar CEO Steven Jobs. “I don’t know where these people get off on their high horse but if any of them actually watched the film, they’d realise that “sporky” is simply a figment of pure imagination and nothing more.”
These sentiments have further outraged transgender activists who say that Jobs’ words of “pure imagination” infer that being transgender is just a fantasy world that only exists in their minds but isn’t a reality to Jobs.
Some users online have suggested that transgender people are reading way too much into this, but most are afraid to speak in fear of retribution.
